Hands up if you've read How I Live Now! And think it's the most amazing, chilling, awesome book you've read?

File 16394

It's a post-apocalyptic love-story action-adventure social-commentary story.

It's too amazing for words. And now there's to be a movie. And that movie has a trailer.

The trailer is also amazing.

The end.

@Diem I get what you mean about the 'cousin' thing. Usually it would freak me out too. But for some reason, not in this book. Do you know why I think the 'cousin' thing didn't weird me out? The book had a very almost WWII era feel about it. And it felt acceptable because it felt like it was from 'another time'. Plus I've read alot of Austen, and cousins are standard husband material. :)

I was trying to explain the whole 'cousins in love' thing to a friend... and while I was talking I realised the intimate connection they have as strangers is further enforced by their familial connection. The relationship wouldn't have been the same if they were only complete strangers. You couldn't have had that inherent trust as quickly as they did. That's why I think the cousin connection worked. It allowed them to trust each other fairly quickly. And in a book that's less than 200 pages long, that was perhaps a good thing :)

@Ambivalence THIS BOOK IS A CAPITALISED KIND OF BOOK, THAT'S WHY :) I love love love this book. Serious love. Like, marriage love.

@Daydreamer oh please please do! It means I would have someone else to talk to about it.

I HAVEN'T READ IT. BUT I WILL. BECAUSE THE TRAILER LOOKS PRETTY COOL, AND SAOIRSE RONAN IS IN IT AND I KIND OF LOVE HER AND YEAH.

I don't know why that was capitalised either.

Also, this post-apocalyptic setting looks pretty nifty, not really outlandish with an overload of technology or a seriously olden day society...it's just interesting o.O

I've read How I Live Now. Beautiful and yet strange book. However, I cannot get over *SPOILER ALERT* how the main character developed an intimate relationship with her (beautiful and charming) cousin, Edmund.
