Halo the first strike is the first of 3 books to be made on the famous x-box game halo.
In the book you read about the captain of an elite group called the spartans, the name of the captain is master cheif one of the many spartans in the group.
Master Chief and his team land on a very remote island called "reach" it is the birth place of the spartans or were it begain, master cheif and his team try to fight off powerfull group called the "covernat" who are destroying the home land of the spartans but while doing that all of the spartans in master cheif group die trying to save there land the last man standing is master cheif who after the fight gose on to be the last living elite spartan.

If your Halo book fan you will love this because Master Cheif and a group of Marines are stuck on the home planet of the Brutes and are on the way to the landing pand 2 miles away from where they are when they hunted down the Brutes.
