Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace. And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close— the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her? Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.
Title: The Mark of Athena
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Penguin Group
Published Date: 2012
Rick Riordan’s thrilling young adult novel, The Mark of Athena, is jam packed with action and adventure. Seven brave demigods are on a quest to find the Doors of Death after knowing the fatal prophecy. What they don’t understand are the sacrifices and unspeakable horrors which await them ahead. Facing ancient Greek and Roman heroes, gods and monsters that challenge their strength and stamina, these seven teenage heroes are in for a whole lot more than they think. Join Annabeth, Percy, Piper, Jason, Leo, Hazel and Frank as they combine forces to complete the prophecy and close the Doors of Death.
Rick Riordan has yet again mastered the art of writing another magnificent book for us all to read. This action packed book is the third book in the five part series of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. After two fascinating novels, the third one was definitely not a letdown for me. The Mark of Athena has been a joy to read; we get to unfold the characters even more as they venture on this dangerous quest. With a well set out plot and an ending no reader would have ever imagined, this novel is one of the few that you just can’t put down. With twists and turns and cliff hangers through the book, I definitely recommend this book to those who love Greek and Roman mythology or action and adventure genres.
I love this book
The end is bad though because even though they rescue Nico di Angelo Percy and annabeth get sucked into tartarus
and Gaia is hoping to kidnap 1 boy demigod and 1 girl and kill them so she can rise you really need to read the 1st and 2nd books to get this one next book comes out 2013 in October called the house of Hades
I finished this book just two days ago. The writing of the book was excellent but being a person who doesn't like cliff hangers the ending disapointed me. I now have to wait another 12 months for the next book! but the characters that you follow through the series all come together and that in itself is really enjoyable to see the demigods from both the Roman and Greek camps working together and feeling like a family. This book was highly enjoyable and i would recommend it to anyone who loves Greek mythology.
