Spring Break
By Katherine Applegate
Published January 26th 2010 by Simon Pulse (first published April 1st 1996) Spring Break is the first of series of books about Summer’s Spring Breaks. This book belongs to the both genres romance and contemporary.
This book is about a teenage girl called Summer who is on her Spring Break with all her friends. Flying back to her home town in Boca Beach, in Minnesota she meets a guy called Austin who storms out of the plane in fright leaving what looked to be an important note book. Summer didn’t know what to do, either running after him and returning the note book then running back to make the flight, or to leave it as if she didn’t notice it. She ends up running after him, missing her plane to Boca Beach and spending the day with Austin. Continuously forgetting about her boyfriend Seth, she falls in love with Austin and invites him back to the yacht she is staying on for her spring break.
Summer is the main character of the book. She is a young beachy girl who lives in Boca Beach in Minnesota. Austin, is seated next to Summer on the plane which is where she meets him. Seth is Summers boyfriend who is deeply inlove with her, but Summer doesn’t really feel the same. Diana, Summers cousin but is just like a best friend. Marzie Summers best friend. Diver (Jonathon) Summers cousin.
I recommend this book to readers who love to read books that feature romance, beach, young teenage girls and guys, and stories with twists. I really enjoyed this book as it made me want to keep going to find out what would happen next. I am not a person who loves to read all the time but this book made me read a lot more then I usually do. I recommend girls aged 10-17 to read this book as it is amusing for all ages. I love this book and am looking forward to reading the next ones in the series.
