Virals is okay. By the person who writes for the TV series Bones, it mixes forensics, fantasy and sci-fi in an intriguing action-thriller. That sounds really complicated, but it actually works.
Tory is one of the few kids on an island off the coast of South Carolina. When a trip to a nearby island results in infection from a rare strain of canine parvovirus, suddenly strange things start to happen to them.
Worth a read.

The book I read was Virals. I really liked it. I didn’t really like it at first because it was kind of slow to start off and I had stopped reading it for a while but I decided to pick it up again and this time I finished and by the end I was really hooked. I borrowed it from my friend and now I really want to buy it, it was that good that I want to read it again. It is a mystery, fantasy and forensic book and normally that might be a kind of weird combination but in this book it was great. It is about a group of teenagers who when trying to free a wolf dog pup in a laboratory catch a disease that it’s got that gives them wolf dog senses and abilities every time they feel threatened or scared. At first they can’t control and can’t use it but they learn to use it the senses to their advantage expertly by the end. The senses and abilities they get is sensitive hearing, great eyesight and seeing in the dark, super strength and speed and great sense of smell. Sometimes they can even communicate telepathically along their group and with the wolf dog pup. They have people out to kill them and they have to find out who and why. I would definitely recommend reading this book nine out of ten!

The book I read was Virals. It was the best book I had ever read and I have read it 3 times since. It was a great book and it was hard to put it down. It is Kathy Reich’s first teen book but she has written many before. It was about a fourteen year old girl named Victoria (Tori) Brennan. Her dad worked for a company and his boss was up to no good. She and her friends Ben, Hiram and Shelton, found some dog tags and that only lead to more trouble. They get wolf-dog powers, sensitive hearing, much focused eye sight, super speed and a very strong sense of smell along with super strength and telepathic thoughts. They have no control over when their flares come on and are determined to solve the mystery but are surprised to find out the real culprits. It is a little slow to get started but doesn’t drag on. It has a really good story line and even refers to the main character of her other books. Kathy Reichs is ‘The International No. 1 Bestseller’ and I understand why. I would and do recommend this book to everyone. It is a ten out ten book.
