My name is Steph Bowe, and if given the opportunity, I will steal your hat. I'm fifteen, and I blog about reading and writing YA fiction at Hey, Teenager of the Year. I live north-east of Melbourne. I'm awfully nice and I like the colour red.
Your favouritebook as a child?
I'm still a child (and will probably always be one), but as a really small kid I loved The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
What's a book that made you cry?
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
A book that made you laugh?
Only one? The Cat on the Mat is Flat by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton. It's a classic.
What are you currently reading?
Bite of the Mango by Mariatu Kamara and Susan McClelland. It's a memoir of a Sierra Leonean girls experience of war and how she lost her hands, and it's fantastic as well as awfully sad.
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Yes! Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings. Hobbits are awesome.
What’s your favourite reading place?
In bed or in a chair on the back verandah, especially in the late afternoon. But I don't think the time of day was part of the question.
Who is the author you’d most like to meet? (living or dead)
Mark Twain. I love his quotes, like "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education" which is now my personal motto. I believe he invented bromance with the whole Huck Finn/Tom Sawyer affair.
Favourite book-to-film adaptation?
I don't have one. I try and avoid the film adaptations of novels I love because I'm afraid they'll be terrible. I'm going to try and break this habit.
On a quiz show, your special subject would be:
B-grade zombie movies
And what are you generally doing when you're not reading?
Writing, blogging and helping elderly people cross the street.
