Meet Melina Marchetta!

You can catch Melina Marchetta, Australia’s favourite YA author, (and Printz Award winner) on Sunday March 14 at 2pm.

The venue is Experimedia at the State Library of Victoria. (Please note the change of venue, previously advertised as Village Roadshow Theatrette.

The Piper’s Son, Melina’s new book, will be under discussion with Penni Russon.

Bookings here. Cost is $5 on the door and includes cake.

Readings will be here for book sales and a signing session will follow the talks and questions.

Going Bovine

Libba Bray’s Going Bovine has won the prestigious US Michael L Printz Award. I’m currently reading it now, and it’s a cracker.

Imagine a book a bit like Skellig meets Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, but that’s a contemporary American road trip. Featuring a death-obsessed, video-gaming dwarf and a garden gnome.

Going Bovine will be published in Australia by Allen & Unwin in February. Stay tuned for a COMPETITION!

New Resident!

The December Resident on Inside A Dog is Lisa Dempster. Lisa wrote a travel book called Neon Pilgrim about her pilgrimage in Japan that has… well, lots of vomit in it. (Don’t let that put you off though, it’s awesome.) Lisa also edited The Words We Found, an anthology of the best writing from Voiceworks Magazine over the last 21 years. Hurrah!
