Martin family birthday breakfasts followed a strict tradition. First, there were Belgian waffles, made by Belinda, the beloved Hopewell Hotel cook. These were served up with an array of toppings: chocolate syrup, fresh lemon whipped cream, stewed strawberries, and powdered vanilla sugar. The air should have been thick with wafflely perfume. Instead, there was an acrid, confusing smell, undercut by a light touch of smoke.

Well, it’s the 6th of August, which means that this is our final post here at Inside a Dog. Hope you enjoyed our month here as guest bloggers! We sure did.

congrats to everyone! i would’ve commented earlier but i just got back from vacation yesterday. the winners’ entries were hilarious! now i’m off to DIY an extras shirt *grabs fabric markers and black tshirt* lol jk.
but i’m rather disappointed—-not with the fact that i didn’t win (although it would’ve been awesome), but with the fact that scott has yet to post on his blog since the winners were announced! scott i got back and was like “whoa it’s been so long since i’ve checked the blog i bet he’s posted at least twice,” and there was nothing! oh well, i’ll be waiting at my computer till then!
