Archimedes Fusillo

cover on the mat

My latest book is a YA novel... On The Mat ( Lothian), soon to be followed by my first picture book-with Terry Denton, Grandad's Phase (Lothian).

It's about ... On the Mat is about a kid who just doesn't fit in, until he is lured into the world of wrestling by a mysterious new kid at his school...

The best thing about being a writer is the freedom to spend my days
daydreaming!

If I wasn't a writer I'd be a fighter jet pilot... oh yeah! Go supersonic!!

My first published work was a poem..published in Women's Weekly...it wasn't very good, but it was mushy.

Morning person or night owl? I'm a morning person. I like to get up early, clear my head, then grab a coffee, a newspaper, and read before the rest of the household erupts into life!

My first job was as a shopping packer at a supermarket... I was hopeless, I
always put the eggs at the bottom!

On a quiz show, my special subject would be aircraft... I love 'em, they give me a buzz. I can pick many aircraft just from the sound of their
engines, so long as i don't go deaf by standing too close!

My last holiday was spent fishing and catching about one fish per day... but
I got heaps of windburn and dry skin, and smelly bait fingers...

My perfect Saturday is one where I get to read  the paper cover to cover
before the Sunday paper lands on the lawn. Oh, and spending time with my
kids at their various sports events.

The last CD I bought was a shocker. It was supposed to be the 'Best Of..'
someone or other, and all it had was the one song looped over and over. Last
time I buy a CD from  the back of a speeding ute!

I'm currently reading quite well actually for my age, and getting through
the novel Frankenstein. I've never read it before. It's... well, odd.

Big Brother or Australian Idol? Aren't they the same thing?

Favourite film/ tv show? Hmmm... I still love cartoons... especially the
really old ones with daggy backgrounds and corny characters. My favourite
film is yet to be made.

The book character I would most like to meet is Zorro. What a cool
guy... with his mask and sword, and cool way of speaking Inglish! And he
always gets the girl too!

The book character I would least like to meet is Frankenstein's monster. He would bore me to tears with his longwinded whinging and complaining. Oh p-leessseee, get over the fact that you're not the best looking guy in town.

The worst thing I've ever written is sitting in a box in my shed slowly
turning to pulp... I can't throw it away, the cat has become attached to the
box.

When I was growing up I wanted to be a rock star... like a meteor or a
comet. No, seriously I thought I could learn to play an instrument and be way
cool... found out you need talent for this.

My heroes are the people who go about their business helping others and
never draw attention to themselves. Like the people who work in hospitals
doing the little things that make life more bearable for others who are
ill. Heroes are ordinary people doing sometimes very ordinary things the
rest of us take for granted.
